Full recap
Monday morning opens with a simple question: if Treasury Secretary Bessent is out here trying to jawbone yields lower, and prediction market traders are openly laughing at him, who exactly is the audience for the performance? Speculators still see yields hitting new highs in 2026 and finishing the year elevated. That is not a vote of confidence. That is a slow clap. Meanwhile over at Goldman Sachs, a senior tech partner dropped what should be the most obvious warning in finance: letting AI do all the reasoning for junior bankers will produce junior bankers who cannot reason. Stunning revelation. Truly. Someone alert the Ivy League. The real news is that Bitcoin just posted its biggest three-day rally since 2023, broke out of its trading range, and crypto stocks are extending gains this morning. While Bessent is doing yield origami and Goldman is worried about brain atrophy, the orange coin is just doing orange coin things. Premarket movers include Alibaba, Marvell, Sandisk, and Coinbase. Coinbase on that list is not a coincidence. When Bitcoin rips, Coinbase follows like a golden retriever who just heard a bag of chips open. On the sports side, CBS Sports apparently went full sportsbook-ad content farm this weekend. Three of four articles are promo codes for betting apps. PrizePicks, Borgata, BetMGM. The one actual game preview covers Guardians versus Angels with two promising rookies on the mound. Low scoring, high upside, and zero billion-dollar promo budgets attached. The parallel is almost too clean. Prediction markets doubting bond yield interventions. Sportsbook apps handing out free money to new bettors. Everyone is pricing in the house edge and dressing it up as opportunity. The only difference is one of them has a government backing the losses. This week will be defined by whether yields actually move or whether the intervention narrative quietly fades like every other macro promise of 2026. Bitcoin does not need the narrative. It already moved. The rest of the market is still writing the memo.
Highlights
- Prediction market traders are pricing Bessent's yield intervention at about the same confidence level as a BetMGM promo bet - free money theater with a hidden house edge
- Goldman Sachs discovers that outsourcing thinking to machines produces people who cannot think. Filed under: things that were obvious in 2023
- Bitcoin's biggest 3-day rally since 2023 happened while everyone was distracted by yield drama and AI warnings. Classic orange coin behavior.
- Three out of four sports articles were sportsbook promo codes, which is either a content crisis or the most honest thing sports media has done all year
